Fire Calls

During the month of March, the Fire Department responded to 16 service calls, smoke scares, CO alarm malfunctions or recreational fire complaint calls. Also during March, 9 hazardous conditions and 25 false alarms were reported. In addition, firefighter/paramedics responded to 292 medical calls and two elevator rescues.

Structure Fire April 6, 2012 7300 block of Ohms Lane Bathroom ceiling exhaust fan had malfunctioned, burned and fell. Employee found fire out.
  April 6, 2012 7300 block of Gallagher Drive Resident pre-heating oven, plastic containers stored under oven caught fire.
  April 13, 2012 7100 block of York Avenue Cigarette in ashtray was put in desk drawer, items in drawer caught fire. Plastic tubing carrying oxgen had also been draped over drawer, also catching fire.
Cooking Fire, Contained April 2, 2012 4600 block of Oak Drive Grease fire in oven, oven door locked due to high heat. Power and gas were disconnected from oven.
  April 21, 2012 5200 block of Lincoln Drive Oven fire during self cleaning cycle due to excess spilled food catching fire.
Natural Vegetation Fire April 5, 2012 7700 block of York Avenue Mulch in outdoor landscaping burning.
Outdoor Trash Fire April 10, 2012 4100 block of Parklawn Avenue Fire in wall-mounted cigarette disposal unit, contained.
